DOORS
Digital Incubator for Museums
The project supports small & medium-sized museums in times of rapid digital transformation.
Initiated by Ars Electronica, MUSEUM BOOSTER and Ecsite, DOORS — Digital Incubator for Museums, seeks to give small and medium-sized museums across Europe an opportunity to steer the direction of the sector’s digital transformation. The challenges of digitalisation are disproportionately found within small museums where the technologies and expertise to launch and sustain digital strategies are usually unattainable. DOORS wants to reduce the digitalisation gap by creating the space for small institutions to voice their needs and offering them access to knowledge, resources, expertise and an incubation and skill-building programme.
Project is running from 2021 until 2023.
Technology and culture continuously respond to and inform one another, making the digital transformation of cultural institutions an ongoing process. To create the ripples, we want to see in the sector, we are committed to making public the knowledge accumulated through this project’s research, collaboration, and experimentation phases.
From interviews with experts in the museum sector, case studies and articles to E-publications and documentation of the pilot programmes, this is the starting point for any institution setting out on the path towards digital transformation.
