New media changes the way exhibitions are conceived and organised
With the development of technology, new media evolved into a decisive tool in promoting exhibitions and reaching out to audiences. In addition, new media became an integral part of exhibition spaces, and – in some cases – even artworks themselves. Yet, despite the significant potential of new media, there is still only limited existing scientific data in this field. The museum community aims to grasp the status quo and likely developments of new media technologies.
To address this gap of knowledge, MUSEUM BOOSTER conducts an ongoing survey on the current usage of new media and trends in this field. The key goals are to analyse the status quo and to provide an outlook on future technologies and trends.
Museum Innovation Barometer 2021
A huge THANK YOU for participating in the annual MUSEUM INNOVATION BAROMETER survey, conducted by MUSEUM BOOSTER. With your help we were able to gather valuable insights into the current and planned usage of new technologies and innovations in museums and science centres.
The Museum Innovation Barometer 2021 provides research results on the current and planned implementation of technologies and technological tools among museums around the world and how the COVID-19 pandemic has influenced in regards to that. Overall, 150 institutions representing 200 museums from 39 countries participated in the survey. Additionally, selected experts provided an overview of the status quo and technology trends in the museum field.
